From August 28 to 30, the four Provincial Commissions of the Italian Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambéry and the Provincial Council met for the first time in a joint meeting. They are Commissions for Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation; Ongoing Formation; Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons; and Finance. They reflected on the progress made in the first eight months of their lives and began drafting a two-year plan together.
The active and fraternal participation of the 17 sisters who attended this meeting made clear their desire to build, through the diversity of their services, an integrated program for the Province —a concrete sign of synodality.
An emphasis in particular was the decision to join the Italian Federation's JPIC, foregoing a provincial commission: a new and challenging experience, which nevertheless demonstrates the relevance of walking together beyond congregational boundaries.
The first day of the meeting reinforced the awareness that collaboration between commissions is a valuable resource for facing the challenges of the Province together.
