From October 3 to 5, the Second National Meeting of Lay Members of the St. Joseph Family took place in San Ramón, Mamoré Province, Bolivia, under the theme: Let us live unity, caring for our common home.
We gathered 58 participants representing the groups where the Sisters of St. Joseph are present: Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Magdalena, San Joaquín, and the host community of San Ramón.
The topics addressed were the foundational mysteries of our spirituality: Trinity, Incarnation, and Eucharist. With great creativity and depth, Sr. Santina Smiderle led us into the heart of Fr. Médaille’s inspiration and our baptismal and charismatic faith commitment as a Congregation.
At another moment, we reflected on our responsibility as guardians of our common home. The reflection was guided by Professor Elena Ríos and Sr. Madina Moroña. Many proposals emerged concerning environmental care and the urgency of personal and community actions that can bring about a transformative impact on society.
We believe that small initiatives can generate life, empowerment, and social change.
On Sunday, we participated in the Eucharist and went on mission to a rural community called Poyori, where local farmers cultivate small plots and live simply. Together we shared a joyful and delicious lunch.
Our meeting concluded with an evaluation and the shared commitment to continue walking in faith, love, and hope.
