NOTE OF CONDOLENCE FROM THE SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH OF CHAMBÉRY

It is with great sadness and regret that as Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambéry, we received the news of the death of Pope Francis, one day after celebrating Easter. He was a leader who became a true symbol of closeness to the people of God, simplicity and charity. Pope Francis was very popular, recognized not only for his charisma but also for his deep love for humanity, especially the poorest and most marginalized.

His choice of the name "Francis" perfectly reflected his affinity with the Saint of Assisi, whose life was marked by humility, service to others and joy in surrender to God. Pope Francis followed the example of St. Francis, dedicating his life to building a more just, welcoming and merciful world.

With a heart full of hope and compassion, he sought to renew various sectors of the Church, taking the message of mercy, reconciliation and peace to all corners of the world, and constantly reminding us of the importance of living with simplicity, compassion, hope and joy. His closeness to the people, his gestures of welcoming the most needy, and his tireless search for a more unified world, where all are sisters and brothers deeply touched all of us, Sisters and lay people of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambéry, present on five continents.

We are immensely grateful for the legacy that Pope Francis leaves for the history of the Church and for all those who seek to live the Gospel in an authentic and full way. His leadership marked an era of renewal and rapprochement between the Church and all people, with a heart full of mercy and a message of constant hope.

In our prayer, we ask the Holy Spirit to raise up a new Pope who can continue this legacy of love, service, humility and care for the poor and for the Church, always guided by the same mercy that Pope Francis so generously spread throughout the world. May his example inspire us to continue living our mission with the same fervor, charity, and dedication to the people of God.

May the Lord welcome Pope Francis into His eternal peace.
