JPIC - Actions for the Season of Creation

CONGREGATION REFLECTS ON CARING FOR THE PLANET AND  DEVELOP ACTIONS IN THE 2024 SEASON OF CREATION

With the theme "Caring for the Planet Calls for Urgency, Awareness, and Mobilization!", the Congregation’s Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Commission emphasized the need to deepen the commitment to the values of justice, peace, and care for creation. Drawing inspiration from the Congregation’s charism and spirituality, which seek to "find God in all things" and animate life for "the greater glory of God" (Constitutions, p. 5), the Commission encouraged actions aligned with the appeals of Laudato Si’ and the perspective of Integral Ecology. The focus remains on prioritizing care for life in all its dimensions (Constitutions, p. 7).

The activities took place during the Season of Creation, celebrated from September 1 to October 4. Throughout this period, significant initiatives were promoted across our Provinces, Regions, and Missions, reaffirming the commitment to life in all its dimensions (Constitutions, p. 7) and fostering a global mobilization for ecological awareness. These initiatives were documented in a video through photographs, which we now share with you. 

The Commission emphasized that the Congregation’s spirituality and values serve as powerful sources of inspiration for transformative actions that address the urgent needs of the planet. This strengthens the mission to promote justice, peace, and care for creation.

The event underscores the necessity of a collective, Congregational, global, and ongoing commitment to preserving the planet. It highlights the essential role of spirituality in building a more sustainable and compassionate future.
