Europe/USA in pilgrimage

Today we were in La Bauche, a small fairytale town. Mother Marcoux and 11 other Sisters of St Joseph are buried there. It was beautiful and moving to see how our Sisters have left a lasting impression in the hearts of the people who live there. The day ended with a visit to the Cathedral of Chambery, an old Franciscan church built in the 15th century, consecrated in 1488 and made a cathedral in 1799.

With surprise we saw that, in one of the side chapels, Mother Theodora Voiron, born in Chambery and missionary in Brazil, is venerated.

Our pilgrimage is drawing to a close. We're hearing about departure times, destinations and returns. But that hasn't stopped us from savouring the gifts that God has placed in our path today: the visit to the church and crypt of Lémenc, brilliantly guided by Francine (a lay-sister group friend), a sightseeing tour of medieval and Renaissance Chambéry and, above all, the preparation for tomorrow's sharing with the community that has so lovingly welcomed us.

All of this will help us to get to know each other better and to feel closer together in the knowledge that we possess an inexhaustible treasure.

Today we shared our pilgrimage journey and our exchanges with the sisters of the Bellecombette, Bios Joli and Biollay community. The pilgrimage group put all their creativity into summerising our 10 days of rich and profound experience with the sisters.

It was truly a great afternoon for all of us to relive and to share the state of our hearts. At the end of our sharing, each of us received a footprint with a burning heart and a Maxim from Father Médaille written on it.

Afterwards, everyone gathered for a snack.

In the evening, the group enjoyed a visit to the ‘memory hall’, guided by Sister Dominga. We left the Memory hall filled with the spirit of our Founder and all those who have gone before us.
