In celebration of International Women’s Day, St. Joseph’s Convent Senior Secondary School organized a transformative health awareness session for its female educators. The event featured the esteemed Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Dolly Mehra, from Ratlam, renowned for her contributions to women's health and recipient of the prestigious Wonder Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSIAN) award. She also serves as the Zonal Secretary of the Association of Madhya Pradesh Obstetric & Gynecological Societies (AMPOGS).
The session commenced with a warm welcome extended to Dr. Mehra by the school's respected principal, Sr. Nidhi. Approximately 120 female teachers, including sisters, attended the session. Dr. Mehra emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, balanced nutrition, and mental well-being. She addressed common gynecological issues such as menstrual irregularities, menopause, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. Highlighting the significance of early detection, she discussed the necessity of regular screenings like Pap smears and mammograms.
A key focus of the session was the overall physical, biological, and mental health of the educators. Given the multifaceted roles teachers often juggle, Dr. Mehra shared valuable tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle through balanced diets, physical activity, and mindfulness practices. She also debunked common myths and misconceptions related to menstrual health.
The interactive nature of the session allowed the attendees to ask questions about their personal health concerns in a safe and comfortable environment. The teachers greatly appreciated the opportunity to gain professional insights on topics that are often overlooked or stigmatized.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging Dr. Mehra for her time and expertise. The educators expressed their gratitude, noting that the discussion was both informative and inspiring. They highlighted the importance of initiating similar health awareness programs for schoolgirls to further promote women's health awareness.
Overall, the session was a resounding success, underscoring the importance of prioritizing women’s health and well-being, particularly for educators who play a crucial role in shaping future generations.
