EXTENDED COUNCIL - A DAY FULL OF GOD'S PRESENCE

Imagem Destaque

25 September 2024

«Take nothing for your journey… He sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal».

The day began with reflection on the Word of God in small groups. Today, Luke's Gospel invites us to listen to Our Lord's call and instruction: “He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick” (Luke 9:2). The same mission is entrusted to each of us; we are called, individually and as a community, to proclaim the Kingdom of God through our simple lifestyle, taking only what is essential for the life and mission of Christ.

In the Aula Magna hall, the Norwegian Province placed us in an atmosphere of prayer, invoking Mary, before listening to the report of the International Finance Commission presented by sisters Marianne Bode, Cristina Gavazzi and Mariaelena, the General treasurer.

SUSTAINABILITY  AND MISSION

Sister Mariaelena Aceti reported on the congregation's accounts, including ethical and sustainable investment, and stressed the importance of training and raise awareness to the young members about the implications of the vow of poverty on our mission and on the administration of temporal goods. The Form 9 is proposed to each PRM to send the annual accounts to the General Council and the General Treasurer.

The IFC emphasized the sustainability of the life and mission of each member of the congregation. The commission encouraged us to study the guidelines set out in the Congregation's documents on the administration of goods.

In the afternoon, the Europe/USA Lifegiving Network presented its reports. It brings light and life to the sisters, connecting many sisters more closely via Zoom in various groups, participating in common prayer and weaving strong bonds.  This network is a means of further strengthening our connectedness between the different generations and to support each other in our realities. Sister Dolores, shared with us the life of our 6 sisters in Ireland, their mission, reality and concerns. We were deeply moved and touched by the situation in the Region of Ireland.

BE PEACE-MAKERS IN OUR MISSION

After this enriching sharing, the sisters left in small groups to visit the city of Nemi. We ended our beautiful day with a meditation on the United Nations Headquarters in New York, led by sisters from Norway and Denmark. This meditation brought us into a space of great simplicity to meet the Lord in silence, encounter him with a great love and follow him very closely, reflecting on the following question:

What have I done for Christ?

What am I doing for Christ?

What should I do for Christ?

The author of this meditation invites us to be peace-makers in our mission, wherever we may be.
