Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry in Bolivia
45 years of mission: a presence that nourishes life and the mission of Unity, in the Church and in society.
Since their arrival in 1981, in Magdalena, Beni, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry began a journey of faith, service, and profound dedication to the Bolivian people. In this corner of Iténez, their presence became a seed of hope, accompanying communities with closeness and care in education, healthcare, and in the spiritual and social spheres.
Over the years, the mission expanded to other places:
• San Joaquín, where they strengthened bonds with families and parish life.
• Cochabamba, where they contributed to spiritual and community formation.
• San Ramón, radiating tenderness and commitment in diverse contexts.
• Santa Cruz, where their service diversified into childcare centers, formation spaces, and support for the most vulnerable.
Each step was marked by simplicity, attentive listening, and the desire to “be a presence that nourishes life.” The Sisters wove networks of love, justice, and communion, leaving indelible marks on hearts, institutions, and communities.
Today, as we celebrate these 45 years, we recognize a history woven with faith, dedication, and profound humanity. We wish to make this a living memory, so that it may continue to inspire paths of service, hope, and communion.
With a deep sense of belonging to the Charism of Unity — “That they may all be one” (John 17:12) — walking in the light of Trinitarian spirituality, of the Incarnation and of the Eucharist, we give thanks to all collaborators: bishops, priests, lay people, religious sisters, and missionaries who, throughout these years, have supported the mission in these Bolivian lands.
We entrust to our patron, Saint Joseph, the entire Saint Joseph Family now established in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Bolivia, and we pray that the Lord may continue to bless the life and mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. In the spirit of Saint Joseph, may we continue serving with humility, trust, and silent love.
Congratulations to all and thank you very much.
Sr. Antonia Constantina Mandro
