375TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE SISTERS OF SAINT JOSEPH

Message from Sister Dolores Lahr – Superior General the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambery

This year we have been celebrating the 375th anniversary of the foundation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph by Father Jean-Pierre Médaille in Le Puy, France in 1650. Our small beginnings with 6 women in a tiny town has grown into a world-wide network of Sisters, Associates, and lay partners.

Our celebrations have reminded us of our humble beginnings and of the growth of the many branches of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, including ours, Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry. But more importantly, this anniversary calls us to continue to grow, to grow into our future, where we continue to serve those in greatest need. A future wherein we live out our charism of unity and reconciliation.

It is significant that we celebrate our anniversary during the Jubilee Year of the Church, in which we have been called to be Pilgrims of Hope. Pope Francis and now Pope Leo have challenged us to be bearers of the Good News, to be women and men of hope.

I ask our good and gracious God to bless all of us as we bring our 375th anniversary to a close, women and men who will continue to be bearers of hope, and signs of reconciliation and unity.
