GENERAL CHAPTER IN NEMI - 12/10

    THE LAST WORKING DAY

Our 2021 General Chapter is coming to an end. Today was the last working day, when we voted on the Final Document, which is a directive not only for the newly elect General Council, but indeed for all the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry around the Globe.

We began the day by praying in our same/similar language groups, a time that was very precious to all of us. Here in the groups, we were sharing what God had revealed to each one of us. In today’s prayer we were asked to share where we had met Sophia, wisdom, during these days of Chapter.

Having been to several General Chapters over the years, I have to say that this Chapter really was filled with God’s Spirit and Sophia, God’s wisdom: in the Zoom sessions in preparation for this Chapter and during these 18 days, where we met in person and were able to share our lives, desires, hopes, worries, expectations and surely our joy of being part of the family of Sisters of Saint Joseph. It was good to re-read the experience of this Chapter in our prayer.

    FINAL DOCUMENT WAS APPROVED

The Editing Committee led us through the Final Document, which was approved by all the delegates. Each Province, Region and Mission got the time to begin to prepare the implementation of the Chapter at home.

In the oral evaluation we heard of each one’s gratitude to all who had prepared the General Chapter, first in Zoom sessions and now face-to-face meetings. The discernment process was one of the most treasured moments during this chapter.

    THANKSGIVING

The day ended with thanksgiving to all the different groups: translators, who all are dedicated collaborators; secretaries who always were at service for the delegates; the ICC who shared the life of the Chapter with the whole congregation through different media; the facilitators who helped us stay focused on our work and all the other commissions and committees who give their time, energy and knowledge to the day-to-day life in the congregation.

In our prayer service we thanked the living God for all we have received during this rich experience.

    Sr. Marianne Bode, Denmark
