    GENERAL CHAPTER IN NEMI - 12/09

    BREATHING THE SPIRIT OF THE CHAPTER

    We share with joy and hope that this day continued to be a sacred moment in the light of the Word of God and the Constitutions. In the journey of dialogue, sharing and listening, we continued to elaborate the final document of the 30th General Chapter as a congregational body of "Communities immersed in the Spirit, connected to the world".

    In the late afternoon, Sister Marian Ambrosio motivated us to Breathe the spirit of the Chapter. "Breathing is the first and last sign of life. God has taught us that breathing is more important than words. As beloved disciples of Jesus, we hear him today repeating his Father's gift: "Receive the Spirit" says Jesus; that is, "welcome the Spirit as a gift".

    You, dear Sisters of Saint Joseph, did not refuse this gift. And you did more: you deepened the way of receiving it: immersed! You immersed, prayed, sang, and reflected God's Holy Spirit.

    SISTER MARIAN AMBROSIO - INSPIRATIONS

    We were invited by Sister Marian to recognize the signs of the Spirit in the chapter. In her reflection a Decalogue came to light:

    1) We became one body and one soul! Small and big signs multiplied, showing that no one kept anything for herself;

    2) We welcomed reflections and prayers based on the Word of God! We became more disciples, with our eyes fixed on Jesus;

    3) A deepening on the theme Fraternal Life in community as a laboratory of the Spirit;

    4) Interculturality that challenges us to live from the deepest areas of our being, the acceptance, the integration, the experience of being and acting of other cultures;

    5) An attentive and careful look at the organizational structure of the Congregation as a precious gift that is the Charism;

    6) Immersed in the Spirit, we were able to dialogue with and about people who are sacred to us. Connected to the world, we were able to dialogue, discuss and perfect the congregational project for the next eight years;

    7) The insistent question that accompanied the journey: What is the new that we are perceiving in the Congregation? Behold, I am doing something new, it is springing up, don't you see it?

    8) The motivation to "risk the crossing of a new frontiers" strengthen the desire to live intercongregationality; to broaden the integration with lay people and collaborators in the challenge to forced migration, the protection of the vulnerable and of refugees in all parts of the world;

    9) In the face of the search for the new, we reaffirm that the protagonist of the mission is God. It is He who creates something new among us, ... we are his collaborators;

    10) Saint Joseph and his dreams ... don't stop dreaming like Saint Joseph and dialoguing with this very special saint.

    "LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE"

    We conclude the day imploring blessings for all the spaces where life cries out for more care, compassion, prophetic justice, reconciliation and peace, singing: "Shine your light, shine forever. Let your hands and minds be luminous.
