Sister Mary Peter Raleigh was born in Rathconnell, Co. Westmeath. She entered the Convent in 1957 in Wales. She made her First Profession in 1960 and Final Profession in 1965.  She served the Congregation in several capacities in administration and leadership. She was in charge of the Irish Region for many years.  She was respected, loved and appreciated and did great work.

Her main mission was in teaching. First she taught in Wales, then the USA before coming to Dublin, where she excelled in motivating her students in Colaiste Dhulaigh  a poor area, to reach their potential, have goals and achieve them.  They loved her and appreciated her tireless efforts on their behalf and knew she loved and valued them. Sr. Peter was a great manager, humble and practical with a big heart as is seen in her work in the school.

Sr. Peter and the Religious Ed. Team brought many students for retreats in the Dublin mountains.  These were very successful and built up very good relationships between teachers and students. There are many funny stories about her experiences in this school.

Sister Peter was also highly respected and appreciated in the bishop’s house of the Diocese. Where she served as Religious Education Advisor to the Achbishop and was Religious Inspector of schools                                                                                                                                A person of worth like Sr. Peter will not be forgotten as her spirit lives on in those students and people she touched. We will all miss her but the memories we shared will always be with us.
