    Learning the Art of Communication

The IPCC (Indian Provinces\´ Communication Commission) organized a 3 day training programme, at Asha Niketan, Bhopal, from May 25 to May 27, 2019, for participants from the 4 provinces.

The session began with an explanation on the ICC Vision Statement - "As Sisters of St. Joseph, with our charism of communion, we must continually grow in our ability to think globally, embracing all cultures and realities, researching and using communication tools to develop unity in diversity and to support intercultural experiences.”

To concretise this vision in today’s reality, the IPCC members, S. Cecile, S.Navya, and S.Laveena took keen interest in training a few sisters who make genuine efforts to write and send articles. S. Navya briefly explained the criteria of formulating a lead sentence, a hard news story, and a feature story, topics which had ben explained at an earlier training programme. The participants went on writing and rewriting the lead sentence to bring it to perfection followed by each writing an article on hard news and feature stories.

Fr. Antony SVD, the resource person, while presenting an explanation on Communication, said, “We need to have a conversion from media to communication. Communication is not only the use of gadgets but a broader and wider understanding of communication.”

The group was initiated to work with Photoshop and InDesign. This particular software helps in editing photos and designing high-quality documents. The participants showed great interest in learning as much as they could within the limited time. These three days training took us to the art of communicating our charism far and wide.
