“Daring in Spirit to be a Unifying Presence”

January 27 to 31 the Provincial Chapter Delegates of the Province of Pachmarhi, risked the Covid-19 Pandemic and gathered in Asha Niketan Campus, Bhopal, India for the Provincial Assembly. Being the year of St. Joseph, the assembly enthroned St. Joseph as a special intercessor for the sisters of St. Joseph and brought him in procession and placed the entire congregation under his protection and care.

The purpose of the assembly was to evaluate the province and elect the delegates to the General Chapter 2021. Sister David Delaney CSJ the facilitator of the assembly animated the group with the fire of the Spirit combined with eloquent sharing from her own experience of facilitating hundreds of groups from India and abroad for retreats, chapters and seminars.

The evaluation of the province was done through graphs prepared by the Chapter Preparatory Committee from the feedback given by all the sisters of the province. The analysis of the evaluation gave the assembly an idea of where we stand as a province with regard to our spiritual, consecrated, community and apostolic life. Action plans were drawn up by the groups based on the strengths and weaknesses of the province to be finalised at the Provincial Chapter.

The theme for the coming Provincial Chapter 2021, “Daring in Spirit to be a Unifying Presence” and the logo was very well explained to the group by S. David. The Holy Spirit hovers over and makes us bold, courageous, dynamic, prophetic and daring to be a unifying presence in the world, as we remain deeply rooted in the Word of God and in Christ who is the guiding Light of Humanity.

On January 30, the group was guided for Discernment and election of General Chapter delegates. S. Sally Marie Hodgdon, the General Superior was welcomed to the hall via zoom. Sister blessed the assembly with these words. “… May that same creative courage of St. Joseph allow you to create a home for new ideas, for being stretched to be more faithful to your prayer life, stretched to being a strong witness of our faith and our charism, stretched to welcome calls to new missions, to be more generous with your time and gifts, and to be leaders in your ministries and in the province.”
