Tanzania celebrates the foundation of the Congregation on 15 October
On October 15, 2022, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambéry, in Tanzania, celebrated the foundation day of the Congregation. We had two prayer services in Songea. In our region, we have sisters from India and Brazil and candidates for religious life from Tanzania. Interculturality brought unity to the Eucharistic celebration, through songs in three languages namely Portuguese, English, and Kiswahili, and prayers in two languages: English and Kiswahili.

In the afternoon, at the “St. Joseph’s Chambery Center”, the 71 young women who stay in the center for their study, participated in the prayer which included singing and explaining the history of the Congregation. Sr. Maria dos Santos Durães appealed to the young women to have the courage to respond and give their 'yes' to the vocational call that God makes to each one individually. It was a moment of grace for all.

Yesterday, in prayer, I felt happy because the prayer was very good. The Sisters explained to us the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph Chambery. They teach us about many things such as how can we talk to God in prayer, and God can call us to be Sisters, etc. When the Sisters spoke to us I felt happy, I felt as if God had come to explain to us. I was also happy when Sister told us that when God calls us, we must listen, and we must leave aside all the works to be with Him. I thank God for yesterday's prayer, I feel very happy.
