    AWAITING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We planned to invite Monsignor Lorenzo Ghizzoni, Archbishop of Ravenna-Cervia, to meet the men and women in the "Good Samaritan" dormitory so that he could see the refugees and hear their stories who are waiting in hope for better tomorrow. Most of the time they are young immigrants who are pursuing to be acknowledged as refugees or emigrant by the Italian Government. In fact, they find themselves in an unresolved status, since they can neither have access to regularized work, nor assume the contractual commitments to work in any house.  They are thus exposed to illegal hiring in various dependencies. Their intelligence, creativity, skills in our country and Europe seem to be doomed because they are refugees and therefor they are marginalization.

Our aim in inviting the Archbishop was to create the occasion to talk to him about them. We wanted him to see them and listen to the stories of those who are on never-ending journey in pursuit for a better life.  We would like that their stories may be made public so that the public may be aware of the situations of refugees and their opinion on refugees "make the governmental machine move".
