    Praying as a Global Family

Praying together for the wounded world

On Saturday, March 20, 2020 once again the Sisters of St. Joseph, the Associates and friends came together to pray, through the intercession St. Joseph our patron.  Zoom Platform and the Congregational Facebook page were the means of expressing our culture of communion through prayer. Evocative images of St. Joseph from Africa, Europe, China and many other cultures prepared the hearts to pray for the wounds of our world.

During the prayer, the characteristics of St. Joseph were highlighted, especially those emphasised by Pope Francis in the apostolic letter Patris Corde. Seven times in the document the Pope invokes St. Joseph with faith as a beloved father, tender father, obedient father, accepting father, creative father, hardworking father and father in the shadows. In all circumstances of life St. Joseph knew how to pronounce his fiat and thus take care of Jesus and Mary who were entrusted to his care.

The Eucharistic adoration took the significant place during our prayer. Sr. Sally Hodgdon - Superior General emphasised the hidden presence of so many - men and women who work hard in discreet and silent way to fulfil God’s plan in the history of their life. She thanked all those who participated in this prayer service and made a prayer of blessing for all.

Many comments have come, both on Zoom and Facebook, to thank the International Communication Commission and the General Council for planning to pray together as a family prayer. Finally, all the Sisters were delighted at the possibility of seeing and wishing one another.
