The purpose of evaluation is to further the growth process of the person and also to improve the measures or means used for effective growth. When we periodically evaluate or assess someone in formation, we can adapt and change our activities and process for furthering growth. We see whether the person is moving towards growth.
Formation also must help those in formation to become self-reflective and self-motivated, to have an all-round development. It is also very important that the person knows herself and is able to discern whether she fits into the congregation with our charism and spirituality.
The formator and the formative community need to know the strengths and vulnerabilities the person brings along with her on this journey, her hopes and expectations, fears and apprehension as she sets out on this journey and continues it in the future.
The formator needs to be very transparent and honest in this whole process of accompaniment. The motivation of the young woman will not become clear until the formator and she can communicate well and with transparency and honesty.
At the end of the day, time was spent in groups to rework the evaluation format.
