With the Youth Synod and the Sisters temporary professed

Sister Sally Hodgdon shared interesting experiences about the Youth Synod held in Rome from October 19 to 29, 2018, in which she participated as Vice President of the UISG. The Holy Father Pope Francis, along with thirty-five youth from different parts of the world, ten general superiors (men), cardinals, bishops, six sisters, priests and professional consultants comprised the group.  The main purpose of the Youth Synod was to invite youth to share their ideas as to how they could be more active and influential in the church. This sharing was a very inspiring moment for the formators, upon hearing the dreams and hopes of youth.

After Sister Sally’s presentation, the formators reflected, discussed and answered the questions about their strengths, any skills they may lack and resources needed in formation. Areas in which more formation could be given to the formators were discussed so that initial formation could be better.

In the afternoon, a video conference with five temporary professed sisters from Brazil, France, India, Italy and Pakistan came online to share with the formators experiences of working with youth and their own experiences as young religious. The young sisters agreed with all that was written in the documents of Youth Synod. They also expressed freely what could be changed in initial formation. The formators were inspired in hearing their thoughts and ideas.
