In the footsteps of Saint Ignatius

The pilgrims continued their active  listening, contemplating the liturgy of the fourth Sunday of Lent with the encounter with the adulteress, who, feeling welcomed and loved by Jesus Christ, rebuilds her life with dignity.

In the morning we were surprised by the Lord.  Because of the international marathon in Rome, we stayed at home, because we didn\t have public transportation.  After lunch, we began our marathon in the footsteps of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. We were accompanied by a Jesuit Scholastic, Pietro. We visited the House Ignatius lived the last years of life. We saw his writings and signatures on documents of the company.  We were very moved to contemplate the personal belongings of Ignatius. We were impressed by his scuffed shoes, bearing the marks of his feet through time. We asked ourselves, we use our shoes for what and for whom? What do our feet proclaim? What hopes and dreams do they carry?  We admired the simplicity of the furniture used by Saint Ignatius and the architecture of the house of those times. In the chapel Ignacio prayed, we experienced emotions in this humble place, bare and silent, we prayed in unity with the whole Congregation about the and difficult situations in the world that cry out for mercy and love. In this place, there is a plaque indicating the death of our dear Saint Ignatius.

Going forward, we had a class on the art of the sacred, visiting the Church of Jesus. We visited the side chapel, Ignatius prayed the mass with the people. In front of this altar lies the image of Mary of the Road, originally from 1550. We ended the visit with a mass, presided over by Father Rolph Paul Pinto, SJ and led by the Sisters from India, which touched us deeply. We ended the day with a good Italian pizza and a hearty good night to every Sister.
