GENERAL CHAPTER IN NEMI - 11/30

    Rereading of the week:

We started our journey with the following words: Walk with us, Lord, Stay with us, Lord.

The facilitator of the Chapter, sister Marian invited us once again to take everything to our personal prayer: what we have heard, know or what each one has already said during this past week of sacred encounter with the Chapter. Further we were invited to reread our seven days experience in the light of “Road to Emmaus.” (Lk. 24:13-19)

The reflection on the “Road to Emmaus” led us to look at our own spiritual and apostolic faith journey. Together we felt that the Spirit was dwelling amidst us and making us feel that we are ONE BODY. The delegates then went into small groups to share the following questions!

    1. What feelings do I identify in myself at this point of the Chapter?
    2. What words and gestures could express our gratitude?
    3. What are the ways my eyes have opened to see the NEW?
    4. Are we ready for decision making?

At the plenary the capitulants spontaneously shared their thoughts and feelings. We were invited to choose a sister for a walk like the two disciples on the way to Emmaus, to share our lives with each other.

In the afternoon, we discussed the proposals that came from different P/R/M (Province/Region/Mission) regarding the mandate for the General Team followed by an introduction to the process of discernment for the election of Superior General and General Councilors.

After the break, we went into mixed language groups to discuss the urgent calls of the Congregation. Each group was invited to come up with 3 calls and 3 recommendations for the New General Team.

The day ended with the eucharistic celebration animated by the Region of Bolivia. At the end of the Eucharist the leaders were sent once again on mission with the symbol of seeds that connected with the Gospel of the day asking us to leave everything and to follow JESUS radically.

After listening and rereading, we realized that our life is centered on CHRIST. Rooted in the love of Christ allow us to walk side by side with our dear neighbor. Let us be open to the surprises of our lives like the 2 disciples in order to read the signs of life with a new vision.
