    CHAPTER JOURNEY / 10/09

CONSECRATED LIFE AND FRATERNAL LIVING TOGETHER

Saturday, October 09, 2021 : S. Sally Hodgdon, the Superior General of the congregation welcomed the delegates for the last online session of the General Chapter 2021.  Province of Pachmarhi lead the participants into prayer with a meaningful prayer.

Sally then introduced the resource person, S. Nicla Spezzati ASC. The input given by sister Nicla was very powerful. Her words and the Spirit kept connecting us to our inward journey to see how we are called to be a prophetic community in solidarity with fraternal living. She said that our Consecrated life is confronted each day in our fraternal community living. “It is a question of leaving everything to follow the Lord. No, I do not want to say ‘radical’. Evangelical radicalness is not only for religious; it is demanded of all. But religious follow the Lord in a special way, in a prophetic way. It is this witness that Pope expects of us. “Religious should be able to wake the world up,” says Pope Francis.

INTERCULTURAL LIFE, LIGHT STRUCTURES, OPTION FOR THE POOR, EDUCATION

In the mixed language groups we were asked to come up with five new directions. It was an opportunity for each group to see where the Spirit was leading to choose the new orientation which we need to deepen again in the following Chapter in Rome.

Some of the emerging calls are as follows: “Living the intercultural lifestyle, lighter structures in our organization, option for the poor and education… , focus on ways of protecting all of creation, deepen wider knowledge regarding the financial situation.  Some of these priorities   will be taken in our discussion in the November session in person.

    GRATITUDE AND BLESSINGS

Being the last online session, Sr. Sally thanked, the ICC members, translators, secretaries, and facilitators for having dedicated their energy and time to help the group to focus and reflect together for the past months. S. Sally thanked the group  for their active participation and sharing.

The day was filled with gratitude and blessings for each other and for the Congregation. We said goodbye to each other, believing that God continues to bless as we journey together with our prayers and reflections. May God continue to enable us to see the presence of God and His guidance till the end of the General Chapter.
