    CHAPTER JOURNEY / 09-11


    KEEP WALKING INTO THE FUTURE

     

    Today, September 11, 2021 marks the end of the second phase of the Journey of the General Chapter Sessions.  Bolivia guided the participants into prayer with a colorful presentation. Within a short time, they enabled us to see the presence of God and His guidance for the past six of years in the life of the Congregation. 

     

     

    Sister Marian Ambrosio, led the participants into a meaningful reflection to delve deep into ourselves and find the treasures within as individual and community to reflect for the future of our congregation. (Text from Jer.31:21-22).   Rhizomatic and Kingdom Centric, were the inspirational words, to take steps towards and keep walking into the future of the Congregation

     

    WHERE ARE WE TODAY?

     

    Sister Sally introduced and welcomed the Resource person Helen Harrington, to present the Congregational Study Report, of the Membership, Finance, Ministry and Sustainability for the next 20 years.   Her Presentation helped the participants to understand current situation of the Resources, also an estimate of the Resources of the Future. She projected the Statistics, the total Membership today is 1,361, and by 2041 it would be about 800 members. She exhorted about the need for promotion of membership in all the provinces Mission and Regions.  The Financial Projection was done for the coming Fifteen years, that is till 2036, which appears positive and stable.  

     

     

    Once the presentations were over, Helen Harrington, paused and invited for comments, doubts or for clarifications, after which the following questions were given for sharing in the mixed language groups:

     

    • Was there something that you did not understand?
    • What did you learn from the Congregational study that was new for you?
    • Did anything surprise you?
    • What questions emerge for you, related to planning for the future of the Congregation?

     

    NEED TO PROMOTE NEW MEMBERSHIP

     

    After the group reflection the participants gathered for plenary sessions, each secretary could choose to report any two pertinent points that emerged in the group.  Almost every group reported that the need of formation of young members and promoting new membership in the congregation.

     

     

    Sister Sally, our General Superior thanked the resource person for her valuation inputs.  Further Sister said that from 12th September onwards we begin another phase of our General Chapter, with the theme Discernment and the Alternates will not be attending the same. She invited them to express their desire for the chapter, if they had any suggestions to make, etc.  Many of them wished the very best for the next phase of the chapter, some expressed their desire as below;

     

    - it is, each members responsibility to sustain our congregation.

    - to Maintain the unity and oneness of the congregational body. 

    - sharing of finance and personnel within the congregation.

    - to create new opportunities for the young members

    - though interculturality is a challenge, it is imperative today.  

    - fostering of pastoral vocations, etc.
