CHAPTER JOURNEY / 07-11

Immersed in the Spirit

We continued with the second session of our Chapter journey, on July 11, 2021. All the delegates and alternates elected by all the provinces, regions and missions representing the different countries and continents were present for the sessions to reflect on the important themes for the future journey of the congregation.  

Sr. Philomina, General Councillor oriented sisters to pray in the same language group on the Gospel of Mark 6:7 -13.

Sr. Marian invited the participants to reflect on Acts of the Apostles 2:46. This passage deals with the priorities and practices of the Apostles. They descended from the Mount of Olives and went into the room where they used to meet. There were women and other people, they founded the community. They had priorities: They persevered together; they attended the Temple; they broke the Bread; in a defined place: IN HOMES. With this passage, Sr. Marian introduced the work of the day.

Reflection on priorities, possibilities...

Sr. Maria resumed work on possibilities/priorities for the next six years. In plenary, each participant was invited to share their feelings and reflections.

Superior General Sally Hodgdon read the Vatican Letter, of May 31, 2021, which alludes to the persistence of the Covid-19 pandemic and the use of technology. She also spoke about the meeting with the Congregation for the Religious which ensures space for participation and discernment. It is important to use the different ways and means correctly.

In informal conversation in similar languages groups took place in order to to know each other a little more.

Radiate the Spirit of Communion

We concluded the meeting with the reflection of Sister Marian, who prayed with us: “It is a time to give thanks for the journey we have taken”. She invited us to contemplate on image of the Samaritan woman who met Jesus with words “Immersed in the Spirit”. The person immersed in the Spirit dreams of something higher, wants to dive deeper into the future and radiate the Spirit of Communion.

Sr. Sally Hodgdon concluded the sessions by thanking all the participants. She invited to pray for the Sisters of Norway, specially for the five young Sisters who will make their final profession as well as their Provincial Chapter.
