State Of Christian Community in Pakistan - In The Light Of Terrorism and Flood
This year has been one in which the people of Pakistan have suffered from fear and great loss.
During the whole year, we have been caught up by the never-ending threat of terrorism. Everybody is frightened, including our students and their parents as our school in Lahore is adjacent to District Police Lines. In addition, a natural disaster disturbed the whole society of Pakistan: terrible flooding during the monsoon rains, affecting more than 20 million people. There is no doubt that disaster always has a negative effect on the lives of the people, but in Pakistan, where most of the people are already living below the poverty line, the situation is worse. The majority of the people now have no source of income. They have lost the tools of their professions, their crops have been ruined by the floods, and their cattle have died. Furthermore, the roads and the whole infrastructure have been devastated. As ministers of God the sisters are establishing very close contact with the people of affected areas and teaching them how to handle these problems with prayer, patience and trust that eventually they will find peace and an end to their trouble.
