First Meeting of International JPIC

The first meeting of the newly formed Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation Commission (JPIC) was held in Rome at the General House from June 23rd to June 26th  2010.  JPIC has as its purpose to educate Commission Members, Contract Persons and the Sisters and Associates of our Congregation on the social, economic and environmental issues that confront our society. The hope is that through this education and consciousness raising, we, the members of the Congregation and our Associates, will be moved to action. The members of the Commission represent the four geographical areas where the congregation has a significant presence: S. Clara Animootil (India),  S. Nilva Rosin (Brazil), S. Eliane Costa Santana (Brazil) and S. Linda Pepe (United States), who will serev as the Coordinator.   S. Clemetina Copia, who is from Europe, will be the General Council liaison to the JPIC Commission.

The Commission looks forward to fulfilling the Chapter Directive of continuing to raise our awareness and that of our co-workers to injustices throughout our world, and more importantly to the causes of these injustices, in order to make systemic changes and have a positive impact on the lives of our “dear neighbor.”
