The New Coordination Team in Lagoa Vermelha
“Our vocation as Sisters of Saint Joseph is a vocation of communion...” (Const. 65)
On June 15, 2011 we began our ministry of animating the life and mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Province of Lagoa Vermelha, Brazil. From that day on, we took up again the process and experience of our meeting in the month of May, presided over by Sisters Sally Hodgdon, Superior General, and Ieda Tomazini, General Councilor.
In a climate of unity and prayer, we called upon all the Sisters to mark this beginning of our ministry as, “a day the Lord has made for all of us.” To reaffirm our faith and hope, we asked each community to light a candle and to pray, expressing their unity as Sisters of a Province seeking the will of God together. In looking at what we wish to be and the transformation needed, we see that this will require a commitment of life and of heart from each of us. In the Chapter Assembly of May 30, 2010, we established three teams for this process: a Spirituality and Charism Team, a Design Team (new forms of organization), and a Global Action Plan Team. In order to create greater involvement on the part of all during this time, we set up groups of communities, identifying two contact persons in each. In this journey, we are confident we will weave together a new way of living and of making our Charism visible.
