A natural disaster in Orissa

The state of Orissa in India has been hit once again with heavy monsoon rains. Almost 14 districts are flooded. Many lives are lost and many families are now homeless. Our sisters in India have contacted us to say that the floods have reached greater than knee deep water.

The convent at Sambalpur, which is on a hill, is serving as a shelter for the people who are trying to get out of the dangerous floods to safety. We hold in prayer our brothers and sisters who often are injured because of political unrest, and now, who are hit by a natural disaster.
