Made For A Mission

24Th May 2011 was a red letter day for the province of Nirmala, India. On this day Sr. Domnica Toppo of Orissa sealed a covenant with God, a covenant of eternal love by making her perpetual profession. It was also a day of grace and blessing for six young women: Oliva Horo of Orissa, Anima Ekka of Chattisgarh, Majushree Lomga of Orissa, Prabha Tete of Orissa, Gracy Xavier Choury of Madhya Pradesh, and Divya Jyoti David of Karnataka as they dared to choose Jesus as their 1st love and made their 1st profession.

Jabalpur community was the chosen venue for the occasion. Present for the celebration were  Bishop Gerald Almeda of the Jabalpur Diocese,  priests from diocese, Sr. Molly, Provincial Superior of Nirmala Province. Fifteen family members of Sr. Domnica made the journey to Jabalpur to celebrate her Final Profession.  Our sisters from Ranjhi and Chargaon communities as well as Sisters from other Congregations of the Jabalpur Diocese joined the celebration.  Sr. Molly Zachariah received the vows of Sr. Domnica and the six young women who made their 1st commitment into the Congregation. The community gathered for the occasion raised their voices in prayer for God’s blessings upon these sisters.

These young women have many hopes in life.  In a world that seeks the leadership of spiritual persons, it is a challenge for them to continue to develop and live a spirituality which gives visible witness to their consecration. Whether they will be involved in pastoral activities or other apostolates assigned by the community, they desire to respond to the needs of the time as a Sisters of St. Joseph who are open to an international outlook.
