Impact of the Sisters in Denmark Recognized
Pastor Claus Oldenburg of the Protestant Garnisons Church, in the center of Copenhagen - has taken the initiative to set up a memorial plaque honoring the activities of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry in particular the building and running of Hospitals and Schools for the Danish people. The memorial plaque will be unveiled on May 11, 2011 at 11 o’clock - exactly 155 years after the first 5 sisters arrived in Denmark in 1856. The plaque will be placed on the wall facing the Garnisons church to mark the spot where the mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph started in a very damp basement apartment.
Among the guests present for this event will be S. Clementina Copia, a member of the General Council, S. Benedicte de Vaublanc from France, and S. Andrea Kampshoff from Norway, together with the sisters from the Danish Province.
