Glimpses of the Golden Jubilee - Pachmarhi Province

Pachmarhi province, India, celebrated the golden jubilee of the Provincial House on 10 - 11 - 12 December, 2011. The three-day celebration commenced with the hoisting of the jubilee flag by Sr. Sally, superior general and Sr. Veronica Fernandes, one of the four pioneering sisters, who arrived in Pachmarhi in 1961 and later supervised the building of the current provincial house. 

Mother Francis James, from the U.S. Province was the foundress of the Province of Pachmarhi. Her untiring and self-sacrificing efforts, coupled with the hard work of several members made our Indian provinces what they are today. The initial “mother province” has now grown large and has given birth to three other provinces with almost 600 sisters working in all the states of India and abroad.

The presence of Sr. Sally and her team among us was very heartwarming and supportive. Sisters from all four provinces of India, Sisters of CSJ Annecy, priests and religious from diverse congregations, parishoners, well-wishers and benefactors added joy and colour to the festivities.

The three-day programme was centered around the Eucharistic celebration of each day. Special prayer services were conducted. Sisters in formation and students from our Educational Institutions performed dances and items of entertainment on 10th and 11th evenings. On Dec 12th, after the Eucharistic celebration, all the sisters visited the graveyard and spent time in prayer at the graves of Mother Francis James and our pioneering sisters.
