Transition at All Levels: Risk Being Different

Life in general leadership is a major transition at all levels. I moved from the place, people and work I knew which were so comfortable and easy, into the realm of the unknown. The time spent in learning, praying and growing in awareness of God’s active presence in my life was a period of transition and growth that has touched me more deeply than I could have imagined. And with this newness and passion, life began in this new atmosphere. Each one on the council encourages and supports the other in the adventure of multicultural living, based on the growing realization that it is only together that we can make this journey. There is healthy dialogue, genuine respect and honesty, all in a spirit of love. Recently, I visited the Provinces in India.

It was a life-giving experience, a wonderful opportunity to meet the leadership teams, formators and especially the sisters in the north and north-east who live in fear and insecurity due to government dissidents. I bring my experiences back to the others on the General Council so together we can find ways to support our sisters.  The need to move into the unknown and the willingness to experience change in my life has rekindled a genuine passion to live anew.
