No to make Saligao the Garbage Hub of Goa

‘Save Saligao’ is the continuous cry of the people in Saligao, Goa, India. The Government of Goa wants to make Saligao as the Garbage Hub of Goa. On October 12, 2019, over 500 people protested at Saligao Panchayat Compound, Goa, against this move of Government.

Sr. Deepika D’Souza from Nirmala Province actively took part in this protest march and boosted the spirit of the common people.

The main purpose of this protest march was to oppose the proposed expansion of the plant and the installation of plastic burning incinerators at Saligao Garbage Treatment Plant in Goa.

Austin de Gama, the President of Saligao Communication said, “Let us go out and stop the vehicles, and then only will the government realize.” For sure, the next morning people were ready on the road blocking the trucks that made its way to dump the waste in Saligao.
