08.04.2020 | Living in Norway in pandemic struck

From the Norvegian Associates and the St Joseph sisters at Grefsen.

The covid-19 pandemic struck Norway in february/march. Our Government closed most of our country down ,and people have been loyal to this.

Living in Norway we are very privileged. We are a small population ,have lots of space, good healthcare and a robust economy .Due to this we have few people infected, ill and dead by covid-19. A big contrast to all the suffering and deaths in the rest of the world.

The sisters at Grefsen have as you know a hospital ward for the elderly and sick sisters. They are very vulnerable if infected by covid-19. So since february the convent has been closed to anybody who isn’t living there. A decision we fully understand and support. We are so happy that all is well there now with nobody infected.

The young sisters and novices have kept up their studies and jobs and have had their retreats. The three groups of associates have not met since the pandemic started in february. We hope to meet again in september. The sisters have the intention to reopening the Retreat Center in October this year .

All these months we have stayed in contact by mail, phone calls and through our prayers and love for each other and the sisters ,associates and the suffering people all over the world.

With love and united in prayer,
    Elisabeth and Gudveig
