04.03.2020 | Sisters of St. Joseph facing the Coronavirus Pandemic: Dourados and Ibiraiaras / Brazil - Sharing 6

Dourados Community - Mato Grosso do Sul

Our house of Project to welcome family members of hospitalized people and care for Haitians has been closed for a week. The Social Worker comes and goes once a while. we are helping the Haitians who are in need of food. Sometimes we are go to their homes to give food. We try to help ourselves as much as possible, trying to serve without panic, but with responsibility, defending and protecting the lives of the weakest. Caritas from Dourados has opened a bank account to raise money for migrants.

We are connected with the integral life of the people around us, so that everyone is saved in Jesus! We are also following orders from health authorities.

    Sr. Alice Soares

Cristo Rei Community - Ibiraiaras RS

    Lent in quarantine

Stop! To be more in personal contact with each other, with nature and with God. Live with the necessary and in simplicity.  Excel in organic food.  Exercise conscientious solidarity and care in relation to things and people.  We organize ourselves as follows:

    - Rosary prayed in the community and accompaniment of the mass by the media on a daily basis, in unity with the Sisters of the St. Joseph of the Nucleus, with the Church, the Province, the Congregation and the nations affected by the pandemic.  More intense community sharing and listening. Longer period of rest, cultivation of personal spirituality. Following responsibly the guidelines of health agencies in all instances, orientations of the Church, the Province and the Congregation. Taking care of the house, vegetable garden and allotment. Bing a supportive presence at a distance with our family members.  To be in contact with our mission as sisters of Saint Joseph, with people and groups in unity and communion through social networks. Supply of the community\´s primary needs by tele-delivery. Solidarity action with the Municipal Health Secretariat in the production of Protection Masks.

“Reconciliation and unity are at the heart of the mission. We are challenged to abandon “our certainties”. Certainty of what we thought to be the only way, to hear the cries of the poor, to participate in their sufferings and to respond to their calls in a new way” (DF - CG - October 2015)

Sisters Maria Tereza Cambruzzi and Iraci de Fátima Cirino dos Santos
