04.01.2020 | Sisters of St Joseph facing the Pandemic Coronavírus: Italy and Pakistan - Sharing 1

Faced with the Covid 19 pandemic which is plaguing humanity and presenting us with dark and uncertain times, there are many positive initiatives that help to live with this new reality in a healthy way. All over the world, social isolation has taken place to curb the proliferation of the Corona virus. The Sisters of Saint Joseph in different parts of the world, though physically isolated, yet united in communion, close in the spirit of good will, prayer and caring for life share actions of solidarity, help, care for one another and the dear neighbour.

"I have hope. I have hope in humanity; I have hope in men and women" (Pope Francis)

Italy - Since March 10, the whole of Italy has been a "red zone", that "forced" all citizens to stay at home. Other increasingly strict decrees were issued later, after the first contagions because the numbers of those infected were and are alarming. There is great concern due to Conona virus pandemic therefore our prayer must be more incessant and intense.

Pope Francis constantly calls us to pray and to pray together. Thus, at the proposal of some Sisters, the province decided to renew their vows together, connecting all the communities through videoconference. The General Council was also present joining the Casaletto Sisters.

It was an intense and touching moment. We were all in tears. The solemnity of Saint Joseph in 2020 will be a mark forever in the Province of Italy.

Pakistan - In this difficult and disturbing moment when everyone is distressed and afraid, we, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Pakistan, pray for mercy and peace in our world. Yesterday we knelt before the Blessed Sacrament and today we are before the Earthly Trinity pleading for our world.

In a special way, we surrendered all doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, soldiers, police and guards to the protection of Almighty God. May they be blessed with good health, protected from all dangers to serve afflicted humanity.
