International Women’s Day, March 08, 2020, was well celebrated at St. Joseph’s Convent, Saligao, Goa. A prayer service with the International Theme: “I am generation equality: realizing women’s rights” was highlighted.
The women of our ward were invited for the first time, to join the Sisters of St Joseph of Chambery, to celebrate this great day. Their response was overwhelming as they gathered in large numbers. They prayed with us. They were impressed to see the unity among ourselves, as we join hands to work for their welfare. The women shared their stories of how they became instruments in raising another girl and giving her new life.
After the prayer service, we together sang the wishing song and cut the cake. Afterwhich all of them joined for a fellowship meal. What touched us the most was the thought of our women to take a piece of cake to those homebound and to wish them HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY.
