11.28.2019 | Youth Pilgrimage - Congregation of Saint Joseph - daring New Crossings

    "When thee is no path,
even without love and with no direction,
     one is not alone.

It is in walking that one makes his way.”

    "When there is no desire,
when there is not even pain,
there must still be the desire

God has placed in each of us.”

(As long as there is sun – Titãs)

Joy, enthusiasm and participation were the answers we found in the young people of Sidrolândia. Around 30 young people from the Eldorado settlement in Mato Grosso do Sul participated and devoted themselves to the Youth Pilgrimage taking place November 15 to 17, 2019.

Many people were involved in the preparation and realization of the meeting, from the administration of the school we were camped, the community of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Sidrolândia and the novitiate community. In addition to the community, the women who helped in the kitchen and all of us on the coordination team took part, the young people, Alexandre Rosa, Klein, Dafne Zenatti, Deisi Toniazzo and Thainá Regina and the Sisters, Josiane Garcia, Edilse Klein and Regina Célia List.

Every aspect of the meeting was aimed at "strengthening the Youth Congregation of Saint Joseph (JCSJ) in Sidrolândia and preparing for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Youth Forum to be held in 2020.  Also, we sought to lead young people to realize that prayer is not only necessary for the mind, but also for the feet, the heart and life.

The moments were enriched with a contextualization of the sacred soil the meeting took place. For this we counted on the help of Professors Gaspar and Regina, who brought both historical knowledge and their life experiences as campers and settlers. "Only what is embraced can be transformed”.

The charism of unity permeated the whole meeting and was intensified through a treasure hunt gymkhana: "If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, walk with others" (Pope Francis).

We concluded the  first day with a taizé prayer leading to an interiorization of Pope Francis\´ proposals and calls to youth.

The sunrise illuminated and warmed our praying journey we reflected on hunger, thirst, and nakedness, against the backdrop of the Gospel of Matthew 25:31-46. We ended this moment in a privileged space we were able to contemplate the beauty of God expressed in nature. Enriched by this meeting with God, we continued our day on mission visiting families and blessing homes.

The days intensified new bonds of friendship and sharing of life experience and culture. Above all, they intensified the desire to lead youth forward, marked by the enthusiasm to persevere on the path of dreams with hope, patience and determination, youth without fear of risking and making mistakes. If you happen to err, have the courage to raise your head and start over!
