    11.02.2019 | Sisters Sally and Philomena visit Mawkynrew

     October 25, Mawkynrew: Sisters Sally and Philomena visited the mission of Mawkynrew, Meghalaya, India from 20 to 25 October belonging to Pachmarhi province. They were welcomed in the Khasi (A tribe in Meghalaya) way of welcoming by dance, garlanding, washing of hands, Arti and a welcome song. Their arrival brought great joy and enthusiasm to everyone.

    Two sisters, Manisha and Kolthida are working in the school, hostel and Parish belonging to the Holy Cross priests. S. Mary takes care of the poor patients from the villages through a small dispensary.

    The sisters of Nongiri, another community of Nirmala province also came to Mawkynrew community to meet Sally and Philo. It was a joyful meeting of both the communities of two different provinces together.  The sisters shared with S. Sally about their mission in the northeast and how they were able to live the charism of the congregation in this part of the country.

    On 22nd morning Nongiri sisters left for their community. The school children welcomed Sally and Philo with a cultural program. Evening after supper cultural program was put up by the hostel children.
    On23rd Sr. Sally met the sisters individually and as a community. They also met with the Holy Cross priests with whom the sisters collaborate.

    They visited the house of a postulant Jone Mery.  The sisters also visited Wahrashi waterfalls at Syntung.

    On 24th they visited Don Bosco museum the culture of the people of the North East is very well depicted; the spread of christianinty and the mission of Don Bosco missionaries are also part of the museum.

    Sisters Sally and Philo were extremely happy and appreciated the ministry of the sisters. It is also a place from were we have started getting vocations to our congregation.
