10.20.2019 | "A call to take care of Our Common Home" - Youth Day

A youth day was organized by young people from the parish of San Ramón, Bolivia. It began on October 12th and continued the 14th and 16th in communion with the Synod for the Amazon.  The journey brought together 45 young people who were motivated to reflect on the problems we are facing today with regard to climate change and the destruction of nature. The goal was to educate young people about caring for our common home, and also creating awareness in the hearts of young people to change their attitude towards the chaos we face.

We started the day remembering the beauty of God\s creation and we worked resourcefully in small groups about the importance of caring for water, plants, animals, the air and everything we use that pollutes the environment.

We went out into the streets and stopped at a recreation site, we found a lot of rubbish left by those who use the place. We did a penitential act, asking Mother Nature for forgiveness for the ill treatment we give her, and then we did some garbage collection on the streets of the city.

The journey for these days of creation closed with a video and photo contest. Young people used all their inventiveness and enthusiasm to make very beautiful videos and craft edifying messages.

We concluded these days with a moment of prayer using the roadmap sent by the JPIC team.
