11.01.2018 | History lived, dreamed, told ... still stirring hearts

A story of the past, true for the present and hope for the future

In very difficult moments in our history, suddenly a group of people committed to life, to history, to education, to human beings above all else, tell us a story reinvented since 1650. A group of eight teachers and Sisters of Saint Joseph of the San José de Caxias do Sul School were working with a group of employees from the Nossa Senhora da Oliveira Hospital and collaborators from the community São José do Patrocínio, on October 27, 2018, in Vacaria in the South of Brazil.

Their work was about the history of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, a story told in a pleasurable, creative way that aroused a lot of interest in the participants to continue deepening and knowing more about the history and life of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

After learning of the origins of the Congregation in France, the teachers, led by Sister Renata Segat, began a project aimed at sharing their work in a dynamic and creative way. Sister Renata dreamed of developing this project and challenged teachers and sisters to introduce it to the employees of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
As Father Médaille had a dream and founded the Congregation, Sister Renata also had the dream of making the story of the Congregation more known to people who work in our institutions.

It is God who keeps revealing himself at different times and in different ways in the heart of generous people who let themselves be guided and directed through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who participated in the moment of spirituality with this group of teachers will never forget the experience, the words heard and the challenges raised.

To the group of teachers and sisters of Caxias do Sul, we voice our appreciation for their dedication and for their joy as they passed on this story, sharing of the heart, challenging the group through an experiential approach as they told the story. It was not theory, but rather experience.

Our story does not fade away. It is always renewing itself, and it is always new to the hearts that profess to change and let themselves be led by the word of God.

    Sr. Adelide Canci
