Meeting of the General Councils in Rome
February 4 to 8, the General Councils of the Congregations of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Institute, Lyon, Annecy and Chambéry – ILAC, are gathered in Rome, in the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph, known as Casaletto. The international event, with the participation of 16 Sisters, aims to share the order of the house and the state of the heart, study and reflection on a theme relevant to the congregations, mutual support and possible common projects or ways to collaborate and help each other in mission.
The theme for this year\s reflection, "evolving a multicultural community to an intercultural community", is seen as an opportunity to review concepts such as culture, enculturation, acculturation and inculturation. The exploration of this theme makes us realize that most of our communities are mono or multicultural, even though international or pluricultural. There is a whole journey of conversion of mind and heart to arrive at the formation of intercultural communities.
On the first day of the meeting, each of the four Congregations presented the reality of their Congregation, including statistical data, their journey since the previous meeting in 2015, initiatives in missionary expansion and movements towards the new urban and rural peripheries, and some concerns and perspectives for the future.
The sharing took place in an atmosphere of trust, openness, and attentiveness!
