Day Two: Meeting of European Leaders
On June17, the Sister leaders in Europe began their activities with a reflection on the Congregational Charism and the exercise of leadership. Sister Sally started the discussion by emphasizing circularity in province-wide relationships, teamwork and interactions with the General Council, since all the Sisters in the different areas of expertise are inter-connected. After a time of sharing and interaction in the group, the Sisters were challenged to reflect on their personal practices in the exercise of leadership, in groups of two, using the different languages to facilitate the sharing.
In the early afternoon, Sister Barbara Bozak of the United States participated in the meeting via WebEx. She addressed the theme of leadership and self-knowledge. In different ways and with various examples, Sister Barbara stressed the importance of knowing oneself in order to lead with greater efficiency. Self-knowledge helps one to better relationships with others. The response of the assembly emphasized the importance of self-knowledge and personal effort that pervades all of life, because we are always in the process of growth.
