Sisters of Saint Joseph reflect on Formation in Africa
The third meeting on Formation in Africa took place April 22 and 23 at the General House in Rome.
Sisters of Saint Joseph of the following Congregations participated in this meeting: Chambéry, Sisters Sally Hodgdon, Mariaelena Aceti and Ieda Tomazini; Cuneo, Sisters Maria Nives and Augustine Mazulu; Aosta, Sisters Armanda Yoccoz and Nicoletta; the Institute, Sisters Petra Urietti and Enrica Moia; and also the Institute, Sisters Matilde Isaac and Martine Goury, the latter two France.
The meeting was directed by Sister Clare Stanley, an African Sister of the Congregation of Saint Joseph of Cluny. She addressed the theme of identity and mission in Africa and challenged the group of participants to look at the African reality not as a single country, but as a continent, to overcome stereotypes about the culture and socioeconomic, political and economic situations, as well as to consider religious life in this context as still being quite young.
The richness of sharing due to the presence of Congregations on African soil and the contribution of native Sisters present at the meeting were of great importance.
