    Easter, 2017

     Dear Sisters and Friends,

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James went to the tomb of Jesus. They found that the stone in front of the Tomb had been removed. They then remembered the words of Jesus. They went back and announced all they had seen to the eleven Apostles, gathered in Jerusalem.

Peter, who was filled with doubt, sadness and disappointment for having denied Jesus during his passion, got up and ran to the Tomb. (Lk 12:24) When the women spoke, he did not allow the thinking and feelings of fear that the others were expressing in the locked room to stop his impetuous response. Peter had to risk, to trust and to remove the hopelessness that was starting to settle in his heart. So he got up and went out, leaving himself open to the newness of God and allowing the light of God to enter into his heart filling him with hope and joy.

What was Peter thinking and feeling as he was running toward the tomb? Peter chose the path of encounter and of confidence. Releasing himself the seeds of doubt and shame, he believed in the voice of God that came to the Apostles through the voice of the women. He got up and ran to the sepulcher and was surprised at what had happened.

What attitude do we need to develop to get up and welcome the resurrection into our hearts? Are we open to being transformed by the light that emerges an encounter with the risen Lord? How can we nourish our hope? How can we facilitate an encounter with the risen Lord for others?
May the light that emanates the risen Lord transform your heart, guide your steps and fill your life with joy and peace.

    Happy Easter!

    With love,
