Czech Mission honored with the Award of St. Vincent

On Monday, October 31, in Prague, S. Jaya Mathew will be rewarded by Caritas of Czech Republic with the Award of St. Vincent, the highest award from the National Caritas. She will get it from the Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Dominik Duka, with other seven women and men, one from each diocese of Czech Republic.

    S. Jaya, who has worked in Plzen Diocesan Caritas since 1995 when the sisters of St. Joseph arrived in the Czech Republic, was appointed by the Bishop of Plzen, Tomas Holub, for her loving and tireless service to the most poor among senior and sick people.

This award comes directly from them, her dear patients. They affectionately and trustfully call her the “chocolate-sweet” sister and highly appreciate her dedicated care. In her ministry they have sensed something more, which cannot be described. S. Mariaelena Aceti, in the name of the General Council, is taking part in this extraordinary event that will be held in Prague Obecny Dum, a famous Public Hall. The historical monument will open its doors for this occasion to all the people coming from all over the country.
